Copyright is a great thing.
The author's law protects artists from being exploited so that they
can continue to live off of their work. Without copyright laws, non
material things such as ideas, music, stories and humor would be
valueless.
Most of my work on the internet is free at your disposal. By this I
mean that my cartoons can be saved to your hard disk, printed out,
plastered to your bathroom walls or sent as an e-card to your friends.
I have always supported the personal use of NOTFUNNY Cartoons because
I enjoy the dynamic which develops when my work finds its way to many
people.
I don't expect that everyone who enjoys my cartoons on the internet to
run and buy them from the nearest bookstore. What I understand about
copyright is strictly to hold and retain my right to live off of my
work and, above all, to control how my work is presented.
Please respect that, without official permission/license, my cartoons
are not allowed to be printed or used in any way. Those who do not
respect my specific copyright must know that I will take legal action.
If you're interested in using a cartoon, please contact the relevant
person, who will then assist you.
For newspapers and magazines please contact Saskia Stumpf (Bulls Press):
Finally, my cartoons are personal to me and the nature in which they
are presented is still very important as well.
To see my cartoons garbled or related with cheap sex jokes or unknown
persons in family photos offends me greatly. I made
www.notfunnycartoons.com an environment in which I like to see them
presented and where everyone can access them for free. Therefore,
please respect that I don't want them published on other internet
pages.
Copyright laws maintain good intentions on protecting an artist's work.
Please accept that no one likes to be abducted, especially cartoons.
It is bad enough that the aliens aren't paying any attention.
